The Tartan Hat is produced by Ingles Buchan (Textiles) Ltd. of Glasgow, Scotland. In business for over thirty years, with roots in the long tradition of weaving for which the Scottish Border Country is internationally renowned, Ingles Buchan are specialists in highland and tartan accessories, and also produce fine items in silk and other materials as part of their extensive line.

The Scottish Clans are the families of long standing in Scotland, whose recognition of their blood lines has kept their pride in kin and country (both the political entity and the land itself) strong over the centuries. It is based on a tribal kinship and a deep identification with the ancestral lands. The system has survived foreign raids, being outlawed by the royalty, and forced exile, but has remained contiguous and is strong to this day.
